An insurance course launched in 2023, to be held in-person at the Annual Meeting in Toronto, will discuss best practices for submitting insurance claims and proper coding by learning from a case study discussion of insurance claims, with insight from the AAP’s Insurance Consultant and Third Party Specialist, as well as representatives from insurance carriers. Cases will highlight the appropriateness of submission, reasons for denial, and issues to avoid when submitting a claim. Topics covered will include: soft tissue grafts, peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis, bone grafting around teeth and implants, and administrative issues. A Q&A session will allow attendees to ask questions specific to their practices. Content is intended for members in private practice and their office staff. 3 CE credits will be offered for this course.

  • Understand common problems to avoid when submitting insurance claims.
  • Learn best practices for communicating with third party carriers.
  • Learn how to anticipate administrative changes that will occur during practice transitions or plan participation.
  • Understand a carrier’s viewpoint in processing administrative issues including their informational needs from the provider.
