FCE5: New Approaches to Periodontal Regeneration – AAP/EFP Collaborative Session
Program Track: Tissue Engineering and Hard Tissue Reconstruction
Presenters
Description
As the incidence of peri-implant diseases and complications continue to rise, there is a renewed focus on surgical interventions to increase the lifespan of the natural dentition. Among these, periodontal regeneration still remains an extremely viable and popular option to restore form and function to tissue lost to the disease process. Rapid advances in materials and methodologies for tissue regeneration are enabling clinicians to save teeth that were previously deemed as “hopeless.” This symposium brings together experts from two of the leading organizations in periodontology, the AAP and the EFP, to discuss the latest advances in periodontal regenerative medicine and to provide a biologic basis for both the materials and algorithms that we select.
Educational Objectives
- • List the currently available grafts, biologics, and barrier materials and techniques involved in regeneration which can help increase predictability.
- • Discuss the role of the grafting materials used.
