Description
This session is intended for speakers in practice 10 years (or less) following post-graduate training. It is designed to showcase clinical advances and/or translational research with direct application to patient care. The selected candidates will give a 15-minute presentation on a specific topic, followed by a five-minute Q&A period. Speakers are selected by a blind review of abstracts submitted to the AAP and will undergo a training session in presenting their material at a podium.Educational Objectives
- • Gain knowledge of innovations and advances in clinical periodontics, research, or related subjects.
- • Describe a new advancement or translational research with direct application to patient care.
- • Understand the role of the regional acceleratory phenomenon in orthodontic movement of teeth.
- • Consider the versatility of utilizing dental implants to aid in the application of orthodontic force.
- • Describe the rationale and current evidence for localized antibiotic delivery via resorbable membranes in GBR/GTR, including microbiological and mechanical considerations.
- • Outline the glow-discharge plasma functionalization of PDO membranes with amoxicillin and interpret data on release kinetics, mechanical integrity, and biofilm reduction to inform clinical indications and limitations.
- • Review the historical evolution of corticotomy and bone grafting for orthodontic purposes.
- • Discuss factors influencing treatment sequence in interdisciplinary periodontics-orthodontics cases.
