Biography Text: Dr. Sukirth Ganesan is currently an associate professor and the director of the advanced education program and visiting scholar program in Periodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. After his dental training from India, Dr. Ganesan completed his Ph.D. and certificate in periodontics at the Ohio State University, a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, a masters in public health (focusing on health policy administration) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Ganesan is board-certified in periodontology and dental implantology. Dr. Ganesan’s research group is focused on understanding the interactions between the oral microbiome and the host immune system in the oral cavity and investigating the role of this interplay in the pathophysiology of periodontitis and periimplantitis in patients with metabolic abnormalities, using integrated-omics approaches.
